Mr. Samuel Harrison, a cherished family man, respected veteran, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Covington, Georgia. Born on October 7, 1947, in Monroe, Georgia, to Robert and Velma Harrison who have preceded him in death. Samuel lived a full life marked by service, love, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and country.
Samuel proudly served his nation as a Sergeant in the 173rd Brigade Airborne of the United States Army. His dedication to duty and country was mirrored in his devotion to his community upon returning to civilian life. He was a pillar of strength and reliability, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. Sam owned and operated Stubbs Wrecker Service for 35 years.
A man of faith and fellowship, Sam was a long-standing member of the Lovejoy United Methodist Church. His church family knew him as a man who lived by the principles of his faith, offering support and kindness to all those around him. Sam's zest for life was evident in his many interests and hobbies. He had a passion for the outdoors, which was reflected in his love for hunting and fishing. These activities brought him peace and joy, and he treasured the moments spent in nature's embrace. His love for sports was also a significant part of his life. Sam and Charlyne never missed an opportunity to travel to New Orleans to watch his beloved Atlanta Falcons take on the New Orleans Saints, a tradition he looked forward to every season. The television series M*A*S*H held a special place in Sam's heart. He enjoyed watching the show, often sharing laughs and fond memories with his family during reruns of the beloved series. It was one of the many ways he relaxed and connected with those around him. Perhaps the role that Samuel treasured most was that of a father. He was deeply involved in his children's lives, a source of wisdom, fun, and unconditional love. He coached baseball with a gentle yet guiding hand and was a constant presence in the stands, never missing a game or an opportunity to support his children. His pride was unmistakable when he watched his daughter, Lori Beth, cheer. His unwavering support and encouragement were the hallmarks of his involvement in his children's activities.
Samuel is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Charlyne Harrison; children, Brad Harrison, Samuel Boley Harrison (Kim), and Lori Beth Robinson (Ben); grandchildren, Pheonix Woody Harrison, Sadie Harrison, Savannah Harrison, Lydia Robinson, and Brody Robinson; siblings, Bobby Harrison and Patricia Woodruff (David), nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
