Sandra Peterson

Obituary has been lovingly prepared by her family.

Sandra “Sandy” Peterson age 71, of Monticello, formerly of Covington, passes away Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at AmiCasa Hospice in Decatur, GA.  Sandy was born on January 24, 1952 in Waterbury, Connecticut.  She graduated from Newton County High School in 1970, and attended the University of Georgia and Perimeter College where she obtained her nursing degree.  Sandy worked as a nurse at Newton County Hospital for five years, then worked for the Visiting Nurse Association caring for patients in the Newton, Rockdale, Butts, and Jasper Counties.  She retired from the Georgia Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.  Sandy was an avid golfer and a member of the Turtle Cove Women’s Golf Assn. and the Turtle Cove Women’s Club.  Sandy was a member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church.  Sandy loved swimming, beach trips with her dear friends and family.  She also loved baking desserts, cakes and brownies.  Sandy also treasured her many friendships and support groups in Jackson and Monticello.  Most of all, Sandy loved living in Turtle Cove surrounded by wonderful neighbors.

Sandy is survived by her sister, Judy and brother-in-law Ron Masce of Peachtree Corners, niece Laura Masce Sinclair and husband Aaron of Tyrone, GA; her children Hannah, Rebecca and Isaiah.  Sandy is also survived by her nephew Matthew Masce and wife Jordan of Savannah, GA.

Sandy and her family appreciate all the care and treatments she received at Newton Piedmont Hospital, Piedmont Physicians and Emory Winship doctors and medical teams at Clifton Rd, Emory University Hospital and Midtown Emory.

A memorial service for Sandy will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Monticello Presbyterian Church or Furkids Rescue Shelter in Cumming, GA.
