Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Edwards, known affectionately by those close to her as Beth, passed away on March 16, 2026. Born on January 30, 1947, in the warm community of Covington, Georgia.
Beth was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 20 years, Ray Edwards, her caring parents, Thomas and Geneva Stubbs, her cherished son, Kevin Darby, and her dear brother-in-law, Sam Harrison. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by her son, Denny Darby, and his wife, Dana, as well as her adored grandson, Tyler Darby and her loving sister Charlyne Harrison. Her numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends will also hold her close in their hearts, remembering the love and joy she brought into their lives.
For two decades, Beth served diligently at Snapping Shoals EMC, where she not only contributed to her community through her work but also formed lasting friendships and connections. Her dedication to her role was evident in the commitment and care she brought to the workplace every day until her retirement in 2009.
Beth had an unwavering love for the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in the laughter of her grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with her nieces and nephews. Her yard was a sanctuary where she spent countless hours, and the sight of birds flitting through the yard brought a sparkle to her eye. The warmth of her home was a reflection of Beth herself—open, inviting, and full of life.
Those who knew Beth will remember her for her gentle spirit, her generous heart, and her ability to find happiness in the everyday. She was a woman who created a legacy of kindness, one who nurtured relationships with a tender and loving hand. In her presence, friends and family felt understood and valued, a testament to her compassionate and empathetic nature.
A Memorial Service for Beth will be at 2 o’clock on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Lovejoy United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
