Shirley (Criswell) Howell

Mrs. Shirley Howell, age 83, of Covington passed away Friday, October 8, 2021.  She was born January 29, 1938 in Porterdale to John Burt and Laura Freeman Criswell who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Howell grew up in Newton County and was a wonderful caregiver.  She enjoyed shopping, working with flowers, and going out to eat.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Howell, her daughter Lisa Moore, and her siblings Jewell, Carolyn, John, Melvin, and Johnnie Ruth. 

Mrs. Howell is survived by her sons, Ricky Walker (Shelia) and David Walker (Laurie); 7 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; her brother Billy Criswell and Danny Criswell and her sister Patsy Green along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Howell will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Walden officiating.  Interment will follow at Social Circle City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
