Stan Ryder Obituary

Mr. Stan Ryder, age 82, of Covington passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023.  He was born October 1, 1941 to Charles and Betty Ryder who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Ryder grew up in Decatur and was a graduate of Gordan High School.  He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired police officer retiring from Dekalb County Police Department where he served for 25 years.  Stan was a great people watcher, who enjoyed drawing, fishing, grilling, and riding his motorcycle.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Angeline Brinks.  He is survived by his wife Linda Ryder; his children Mark Ryder (Melanie) of Shelbyville, TN, Chris Ryder (Heather) of Hoschton, and Joy Ryder of Covington; his grandchildren Erica, Katelyn, Addison, Jordan, and Sadie Grace; his great grandchildren Connor, Lincoln, Grayson, and Laila Belle; his sister Phyllis Ryder of Covington; his brother-in-law Bill Brown also of Covington; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Mark Ryder officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 Pm until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service of Saturday.
