The family has lovingly prepared an obituary for Mr. McDonald.
Stanley McDonald, age 85, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away August 15, 2024. He was born November 5, 1938 to Lenora and Felton McDonald.
He married Carolyn, his high school sweetheart, on December 22, 1956. He was a longtime member of Gaither’s Church where he enjoyed working on projects and doing maintenance work for the church; and for many years, he and his wife Carolyn worked as Communion Stewards.
He loved gardening, working in his shop, and doing projects for the church. His passion was taking care of Ms. Carolyn and his church. He retired from General Motors in Doraville where he worked in date processing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son Keith, grandsons Michael and Steven, infant brother Phillip Scott, brother Adrian McDonald, and sister Marlene Blackwell. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, sons Brian McDonald of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jeff McDonald of Monroe, Georgia, four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Piedmont Newton Hospital. Their care and loving concern for the family during this very grievous and emotional time does not go unnoticed.
A memorial service for Mr. McDonald will be held at Gaither’s Church, 1375 Newton Factory Bridge Road on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00am with Pastor Andy Parker officiating.
