It is with deep affection and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Mrs. Sylvia Jean Crowe, a beacon of love and faith, who left us peacefully on the eve of her 84th birthday, May 26, 2025. Sylvia, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, was a testament to the strength and warmth of family love.
Born on May 27, 1941, to the late J.D. and Ollie Mae Morrell, Sylvia's life was a melodious journey filled with the hymns she adored and the family she held dear. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Gene Crowe, her sons Danny and Michael Crowe, her grandson Daniel Crowe, her great-grandsons Bobby Joe Couch and Samuel Hudson, her sister Linda Morrell, and her sons-in-law Dennis Hart and Howell Couch.
Sylvia's legacy continues through her loving children Bettina "Tina" Hart, Norma Couch, and Susan Morgan (Bobby). She was the proud matriarch to a lineage of joy, including her grandchildren Travis Hersh (Danielle), Joseph Couch (Crystal), Jhie Schramm (John), Christopher Morgan (Katelin), Cynthia Hudson (Jesse), Deanna Sharp (Trent), Dana Gaddis (Hector), Danielle Sexton (Zack), Rachael Visser (Ben), Amber Curinton (Cat), and Heather Thomas (Elijah). Her life further blossomed with the laughter of 31 great-grandchildren and the wonder of 4 great-great-grandchildren. Sylvia's memory is also honored by her siblings James Edward Morrell (Jeanette), Phyllis Smith (Marshall), Sheila Fuller (Wayne), Patty McCormick, and Kenneth Morrell (Arlene), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all experienced her nurturing spirit.
A woman of unwavering faith, Sylvia was deeply religious and found great solace and joy in her church and her relationship with God. Her love for singing old hymns was only matched by the love she had for her family and all the children in the neighborhood, whom she treated as if they were her own. Sylvia's presence was a comforting embrace to anyone in need, and her home was often filled with the sound of her humming along to the melodies of her favorite songs.
In addition to her spiritual devotion, Sylvia had a passion for the beauty of nature, particularly hummingbirds, which she admired for their grace and resilience. An avid reader, she found solace in the pages of books, which were her companions in quiet moments and her gateways to other worlds. Her intellect and curiosity were as much a part of her as her kindness and compassion.
A Funeral Service for Sylvia will be at 3:00PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Higher Praise Tabernacle with Pastor Kenneth Morrell and Pastor Jesse Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
