Sylvia Layne Edwards

Sylvia Edwards, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Born on June 13, 1956, in Wilson, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Bill and Elaine Edwards, both of whom have preceded her in death. Sylvia spent her formative years in McDonough, where she graduated from Morrow High School, and later continued her studies at Mercer University.

Sylvia dedicated 38 years of her life to Delta Airlines, where her commitment and hard work earned her the respect and friendship of many colleagues. She was known for her love of reading her Bible, her passion for travel, and her gift for writing poetry. Above all, Sylvia cherished her role as a mother and found immense joy in her family.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Minter. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Morgan Spencer (Jonathan); her grandchildren, Indiana and Galilee; her brother, Billy Edwards; her nieces, Stevee Reagin and Kassie Minter; as well as a host of other family members and many close friends whose lives she touched.

Funeral services to honor Sylvia’s life will be held at 11 o’clock on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, with Pastor James C. Twiner officiating. Sylvia’s warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
