Tammie Atwater-Young Obituary

Tammie Dawn Atwater-Young, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on August 6, 1968, Tammie brought light and joy into the world and left it a better place for her presence.

Tammie was a cherished daughter to Bob and Ella Atwater, and later her stepmother, Donna Atwater. She grew up alongside her brothers Terry, Tracy, and Robert "Bobby" Atwater, Jr., sharing countless memories that would become treasured stories. Her beloved grandmother, Elizabeth Gill, preceded her in death.

Academically gifted and driven, Tammie excelled in her studies, earning her bachelor's degree in education, graduating cum laude. Her passion for education and her nurturing spirit led her to Live Oak Elementary School, where she dedicated eight years of service. Tammie was more than just an educator; she was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to her students and colleagues alike.

Tammie was a huge fan of Harry Styles, whose music brought her joy and became the soundtrack to many of her cherished moments. The beaches of Massachusetts held a special place in her heart, where she could often be found whale watching, a pastime that reflected her love for nature and the serenity of the ocean. Tammie shared a love for Marvel movies with Sydney, as they went to the midnight showings any time they were released.

An amazing cook and baker, Tammie found delight in the simple act of sharing a meal with loved ones. Her home was a hub of warmth and laughter, especially when she hosted her beloved 'girls' night' gatherings, which were filled with entertainment and the comfort of friendship.

Tammie's love for animals was profound, and she cherished every moment she spent with her furry companions, Beau, Tye, and Bitty. Their unconditional love was a source of constant comfort and companionship throughout her life. Her adventurous spirit took her to places far and wide, but she held a particular fondness for Italy's rich culture and history, and the vibrant energy of Nashville, Tennessee. Traveling was not just a hobby for Tammie; it was a way of embracing life's vast tapestry of experiences.

Above all, Tammie was the glue that held her family together. Her unwavering support and unconditional love created an unbreakable bond that will endure beyond her passing. She is survived by her adoring daughter Sydney Young and her significant other, Evan Hopper, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength.
