Thomas Carroll Fincher

Mr. Thomas Carroll Fincher, age 82, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was born Monday, April 14, 1941 in Covington to Sim and Georgia Fincher who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Fincher grew up in Covington and graduated from Newton County High School.  He served proudly in the United States Army. 

Mr. Fincher retired from Lithonia Lighting after a long career and then worked for awhile at the FFA Camp but his greatest passion was operating Fincher Acres with raising cattle and harvesting hay.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, and loved his dogs; he also enjoyed going to Buckner’s.  Mr. Fincher was a member of Eastridge Community Church.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl McElroy Fincher on October 23, 2010. 

Mr. Fincher is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Shona Fincher of Covington, and Brad and Sandra Fincher of Grayson; his grandchildren Morgan, Drew, Will, and Isla; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Fincher will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Rutledge officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.
