Mr. Van Steven Byous, Sr., 67, of Covington passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was born in Sevierville, Tennessee on September 27, 1953 to Carl and Dorothy Byous who have preceded him in death. Mr. Byous enjoyed fishing, car shows, tractor pulls, drag racing, traveling, and loved being with his wife and grandbabies. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Mr. Byous was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and worked for over 20 years as a truck driver for Lithonia Lighting where he traveled through every State except Alaska and Hawaii. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Kayla Fletcher.
Mr. Byous is survived by his wife Deborah Byous, his children Steven Byous (Karen) of Oxford, David Cathcart (Deanna) of Conyers, Shane Byous (Andrea) of Milledgeville, Katrina Kendrick (Antorio) of Thomson, Kristy Mills (Edward) of Hampton, and Van Byous, Jr. of Covington his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Howard Glow along with 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, several nieces and nephews and numerous other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Byous will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM. J.C.
