Van S. Byous, Jr.

Mr. Van S. Byous, Jr., age 37, of Covington passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021.  He was born July 28, 1984 in Conyers to Van S., Sr. and Deborah Newberry Byous.  Van grew up all around Rockdale, Newton, and Jasper counties and graduated from Jasper County High School.  He went to DeVry College and received an Associate Degree.  Van loved chasing trains, photography, and being with his family.  He was preceded in death by his father Van S. Byous, Sr. and his niece Kayla Fletcher.

Van is survived by his mother Deborah Byous of Covington; his siblings Steven Byous (Karin) of Oxford, David Cathcart (Deanna) of Conyers, Shane Byous (Andrea) of Milledgeville, Katrina Kendrick (Antorio) of Thomson, and Kristy Mills (Edward) of Hampton; aunt and uncles Judy and Howard Glow of Newborn and Roy Newberry of Alabama along with numerous nieces and nephews; one great nephew; and a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Van will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Sorrells officiating.  Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Newborn.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
