William Holmes

Mr. William Holmes, age 80, of Mansfield passed away August 19, 2020.  He was born September 8, 1939 in Hanover, Alabama.  Mr. Holmes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He enjoyed fishing, “Tinkering”, going to Waffle House, and loved “Rudy” his dog.  Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his mother Katie Belle Holmes, his son Robert Earl Holmes, his grandson Adam Scarborough, and his granddaughter Patricia Hay.  He is survived by his wife Lillian Ruth Holmes, his children Bobby Holmes (Tammy), Lora Ann Haney (Ernest), and LaTracy Mason (Harley Rivers), his 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren along with a host of close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Holmes will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Scott officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday evening August 21, 2020.  J.C. Due to the COVID 19/Coronavirus Pandemic all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements will be followed.  There is a limit of 50 people at any large gathering, social distancing must be recognized, and the use of a mask is now required in Newton County.  Most importantly if you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID 19 you will not be allowed to attend the service.  Please be respectful of the family during this difficult time and follow the requirements of the CDC.
