Mr. William M. “Bill” Berry, age 88, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was born in Newborn, Georgia on October 21, 1933 to Thomas C. and Sara Gay Berry who have preceded him in death. Mr. Berry graduated from Newton County High School and completed his forestry degree at the University of Georgia. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Berry enjoyed golf, working in his yard, wood working, and UGA football. He grew up attending Newborn United Methodist Church and was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Faye Corley Berry. He is survived by his children Marla Wyatt (Ricky) of Covington, Laura Sauls (Todd) of Tiger, Mark Berry (Misel) of Alpharetta, Kim Berry of Gainesville, and Kay Halferty (Jason) of Jefferson. Mr. Berry is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.
Graveside services for Mr. Berry will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Newborn Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Todd Hilton officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Newborn United Methodist Church, 118 Church Street, Newborn, GA 30056. J.C.
